Participation Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Food Share. We look forward to meeting you! In order for our harvests to run as smoothly as possible, we ask that you observe the following guidelines.

• Our mission is to recover fresh produce in order to reduce waste, improve health, and provide reliable access to nutritious food for our neighbours in need. Please behave in a way that is consistent with that mission while volunteering with us.
• If you find you are unable to attend, after signing up for a harvest, please cancel your roster spot. This helps us make sure we have a full crew of volunteers for the harvest in question.
• Please be punctual. A safety training and orientation will be given by the harvest leader at the start of the event and we don't want you to miss anything.
• For everyone's safety our events are smoke and alcohol free.
• Many of the trees we harvest are on private property, typically in gardens. The owner or resident has granted us permission to enter to pick fruit. Please be respectful of the fact that this is someone's home.
• Please listen to, and follow, the safety training and orientation given by the harvest leader.
• The harvest leader has been trained to supervise the event to make sure volunteers have a productive and enjoyable time. Please follow her/his directions.
